A Perth man has told the Supreme Court he is shocked and sorry for stabbing his estranged wife, in what he has described as a drug frenzy.
Alexander Petrelis was giving evidence at trial on a charge of attempting to murder Lisa Petrelis, 38, at their Karrinyup home in December 2010.
The court heard he went there late at night and was invited inside.
It was told Petrelis then grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed his wife at least 10 times in the chest, stomach and arm.
Petrelis has admitted causing grievous bodily harm to his wife but maintains he had no intention to kill her.
He testified he was under the influence of methylamphetamine and said he was lost in a drug rage.
He also said he had no recollection of his three-year-old son being in the room at one stage during the attack.
The court previously heard Petrelis had not slept for three days before the frenzied attack.
His lawyer told the court his client was under the influence of drugs and was angry, disappointed and frustrated but did not mean to kill his estranged wife.
